Nilo Zamiri
Nilo Zamiri is a popper, project manager, and overall creative who believes in the power of art to create social change. Hailing out of immigrant neighborhoods of Gothenburg, Sweden, Nilo found her home in Hip Hop early in life as an empowering expression for marginalized communities.
Although she is now back in Sweden, Nilo spent the last ten years living in the Bay Area in Northern California, where she developed a strong passion for Popping. She has had the honor and opportunity to learn from pioneers from San Jose, Oakland, & San Francisco, as well as other world-renowned poppers. Together with Nurse Boogy, she co-founded a weekly outdoor popping session in Oakland called “Fownk at the Lake” as a response to collective cultural spaces lost at the hands of gentrification. In addition to being active in the battle scene, she has also been known to fuse Iranian dance with Popping as an ode to her background.
Nilo has worked with events, youth mentorship, and community organizing for most of her professional career, which motivated her to create “Boom Bap Ave”, a Hip Hop-project focused on social change through events, media, and education.
Nilo Zamiri will be on Next Level Team Ecuador.
