Y?
Y? is an artivist (artist activist) and educator born and raised in Queens, NYC. Starting his journey with writing/ poetry evolving into an Emcee though performing, recording and touring. To dive deeper into creating music he studied audio engineering and music production becoming a freelance audio engineer/ producer. To further develop purpose Y? worked as a teaching artist serving housing project community centers, the Department of Education and various arts/ education organizations. This work led Y? to found "Creative Expressions", where he facilitates workshops, designs and develops innovative curriculum, and trains teaching artists and staff. Expanding as an artist he trains in instrumentation/ composition, voice and theater completing the writing and directing of his 1st full length theater piece. Y? is greatly inspired by the philosophy of Paulo Freire's "Pedagogy of the Oppressed" and believes art is a tool for communication and the liberation of all people.
