Melbeatss
Melbeatss is a multidisciplinary artist and community organizer based in East New York, Brooklyn. Through music production, he explores musical lineage, sound manipulation, and hip-hop culture. Currently, as the Studio Program Manager at Groundswell, Melbeatss works alongside youth and artists from across New York City. He has over 10 years of experience producing instrumentals and received a music production degree from Queensborough College before completing a self-directed degree centered in art and activism from The New School for Social Engagement in 2021.
While at The New School, he founded the Hip Hop Collective, a space raising awareness through all elements of Hip Hop culture. Melbeatss has a background in restorative practices and transformative pedagogy in youth community spaces. His creative practice is rooted in archival work, nostalgic moods, and deep listening.
