Brown Jewel is an educator, beatmaker, and music producer originally from Racine, Wisconsin. Currently based in Brooklyn, NY, she works on projects for Hip Hop and R&B artists and also creates music soundscapes for ad campaigns, short films, series, and podcasts. Her first major placement was "Gravy," by Onyx's Sonny Seeza featuring Agallah, and followed this with landing a placement on Mac Miller's Kids Mixtape. Brown Jewel's influences include boom-bap and the many variations of R&B. While she infuses samples and sound design to generate textures, she also specializes in using words as percussive elements. In addition to beatmaking, she has taught internationally and domestically. In 2019, Brown Jewel had the pleasure of piloting the first after-school music production program for a high school in the Bronx. She’s planning to conduct more beat making workshops in the future and have more involvement in sync licensing.
